Magnetic particle testing can be performed on any ferromagnetic material that can be accessed and submitted to a magnetizing current.

Dry or wet particles in either visible or fluorescent colors are available dependant upon the application.

This method is a valuable tool for the inspection of welds and base metal in pressure vessels, tanks, piping, lifting components, structural steel and other items as applicable.

We have portable equipment ranging from A/C yokes to 4000 amp AC/HWDC units. Magnetic particle testing is used for the detection of surface or near surface discontinuities in ferrous materials. They make use of an externally applied magnetic field or half-wave DC (rectified AC) current through the material, and the principle that the magnetic susceptibility of a discontinuity is significantly poorer (the magnetic resistance is greater) than that of the surrounding material.
